Tétouan Hosts the 14th Edition of the Women’s Voices Festival from August 12 to 15
From August 12 to 15, 2026, the city of Tétouan will come alive for the 14th edition of the Women’s Voices Festival, organized by the Women’s Voices Association under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Held under the theme “Mediterranean Women: Women of Culture and Tradition,” this year’s edition will highlight the vital role of women in preserving cultural heritage, fostering artistic creativity, and promoting social engagement.
Beyond its musical performances, the festival will feature a diverse program combining culture, solidarity, and healthcare initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to social causes since its creation in 2008.
The opening ceremony will take place on August 12 at the Tétouan Centre for Modern Art, featuring the official inauguration of the festival and a visit to the exhibition “Eighty – 80,” organized to mark the Centre’s 80th anniversary and dedicated to the history of the Tétouan School of Fine Arts.
The evening will also feature a presentation of the traditional Tétouani Chedda, an iconic element of the city’s intangible cultural heritage, followed by a musical performance by the Jouk Nissaï of Tétouan, conducted by Latifa El Kourassia, as well as a tasting of local pastries.
As in previous editions, the festival will place strong emphasis on solidarity initiatives through its “Health for All” campaign.
From August 12 to 15, medical consultations, awareness campaigns, and donation drives will be organized at the Sidi Frej Centre for elderly people and vulnerable communities. The initiative will also include the launch of a project to renovate and equip the centre, with the aim of improving living and reception conditions for its residents.
On August 13, a solidarity day will be held at the Tétouan Penitentiary Centre, featuring a medical caravan, meetings with female inmates, a solidarity lunch, donation distribution, and a musical performance by a local women’s ensemble.
On August 14 and 15, the “Health for All” campaign will continue at Kassem Ezzahiri Qualifying High School, before concluding with a final visit to the Sidi Frej Centre.
Two Major Free Concerts
The highlight of the festival will be two free concerts held on the Al Matar Main Stage.
On Friday, August 14, audiences will enjoy a performance by the Rhoum El Bakkali Hadra Chefchaounia Ensemble, a women’s group from Chefchaouen specializing in spiritual chants, followed by singer Chaimae Imran, who rose to prominence through X Factor Arabia. The evening will conclude with the renowned Spanish duo Azúcar Moreno, formed by sisters Toñi and Encarna Salazar, who represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990 with their song Bandido.
On Saturday, August 15, singer Karima Gouit will open the evening alongside a women’s Ahwach ensemble, showcasing this Amazigh tradition in which women play a central role. The festival will close with a performance by Asmaa Lamnawar, one of the leading voices of the Moroccan and Arab music scenes, whose repertoire blends Moroccan songs with oriental music.
Through this latest edition, the Women’s Voices Festival continues its ambition to establish Tétouan as a vibrant space for dialogue between Mediterranean cultures, while highlighting the essential role of women in preserving traditions, fostering artistic creativity, and advancing solidarity initiatives.
By bringing together heritage, music, healthcare, and social engagement, the festival further strengthens its position as one of Morocco’s major cultural events of the summer.
