The city center of Tetouan is taking on a new look as night falls. Several of the city’s iconic avenues have recently been equipped with a new public and decorative lighting system, dramatically transforming the nighttime atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
This illumination project, which notably covers Avenue Mohammed V and the surroundings of the historic Avenida Cinema, required highly precise technical work. Under the supervision of specialized engineers, local authorities adopted an approach that preserves the historical character of the buildings. The objective is both to enhance public safety and to highlight the architectural details inherited from the Spanish era, which give the city its distinctive identity.
The lighting upgrade also extends to key landmarks such as the renowned Mechouar Square, located near the Royal Palace. For the municipality, the goal is to showcase the richness of these buildings, which form the cultural identity of the “White Dove.”
This initiative represents just one phase of a broader plan. In the coming days, additional lighting installations will be deployed across other strategic areas. The project is part of a new regulatory framework aimed at harmonizing the city’s urban aesthetics.
At the same time, authorities are preparing to launch a large-scale program for façade renovation and the repainting of commercial premises. This comprehensive upgrade is intended to prepare Tetouan for the summer season, a period marked by high inflows of both domestic and international visitors.
