Tetouan’s House of Poetry Opens Its 10th Cultural Season

Tetouan’s House of Poetry will launch its tenth poetic and cultural season this Friday with a vibrant evening of poetry, music, and dialogue, setting the stage for the institution’s new literary and artistic program.

Hosted at the Agora Square of the Iklyle Cultural Center, the event will, for the first time, bring together three prominent voices of contemporary Moroccan poetry: Abdelkader El Alami, Dami Omar, and Youssef Rguibi. Each of them reflects the richness and diversity of today’s Moroccan poetry through unique experiences, distinct aesthetic choices, and innovative approaches to modern poetic expression.

Adding a musical dimension to the evening, Moroccan singer Yousra Derdabi—celebrated for her mastery of Arab, Moroccan, and Andalusian repertoires—will perform a selection of Arabic and Moroccan poems set to music by renowned voices from the Middle East and the Maghreb.

The gathering will also feature an open discussion on the House’s plans for the year ahead, inviting contributions from its devoted audience and cultural partners. This participatory dialogue, now a tradition at the House, takes place at the start of each year to shape a shared vision and inspire the upcoming program.

Organized in partnership with the Iklyle Cultural Center of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works in Education and Training, the event highlights the strong collaboration between the two institutions.

Founded in 2016 under a memorandum of understanding between Morocco’s Ministry of Culture and the Emirate of Sharjah, the House of Poetry in Tetouan has since become a dynamic platform for dialogue, creativity, and cultural exchange.
