Organized by the African Volleyball Confederation, the championship witnessed the participation of some of the strongest national teams on the continent, featuring 114 men’s pairs representing 27 African countries and 88 women’s pairs representing 22 nations.
In the men’s category, Morocco’s “B” team—composed of Zouhair Soufiane El Gharouti and Anass Saber—clinched the title after defeating their compatriots from Morocco’s “A” team—Zouhair Karraoui and Elias Lazaar Errouhouni—in a thrilling all-Moroccan final (17-21, 21-18, 15-10), highlighting the host nation’s dominance throughout the competition.
Third place went to the Mozambican duo Mondiane and Mongua, who secured a straight-sets victory over the Togolese pair Kotoka and Samani in the bronze medal match.
As a result, Morocco (teams A and B), Mozambique, and Togo earned qualification for the upcoming World Championship, scheduled for November in Australia.
In the women’s category, Morocco continued to shine, with the national “A” team—featuring Mohassen Sayyad and Dina Mellal—claiming the continental title after a straight-sets win (21-15, 23-21) over the Mozambican pair Vanissa and Mondissa in the final.
The Nigerian women’s team claimed third place after defeating Egypt in the classification match, thus joining Morocco and Mozambique in qualifying for the World Championship.
Meanwhile, the U21 African Beach Volleyball Championship also concluded with exciting results.
In the women’s U21 category, Mozambique’s young duo Nadia and Verónica were crowned African champions after defeating Egypt’s team of M. Saleh and R. Ashmawy in straight sets (21-16, 21-16).
On the men’s U21 side, Namibia’s Krafft brothers (Krafft/Krafft) delivered an impressive performance, overcoming Mozambique’s Ednilson and Guvo with a straight-sets win (21-15, 21-17). With this victory, Namibia not only claimed its first title in this category but also broke Mozambique’s streak of dominating African podiums—making this championship a true family affair.
